I started a return using a download but want to switch to online so it lets me paste passwords. Can that be done? How?

No.  But you can start a new online return and enter everything again.  What passwords do you need to paste?  Like to import 1099 forms?  I suppose you could start over in the Online version fill it out and then move it to your desktop program to finish and file.  Then you don't have to pay for Online.

You can switch from TurboTax Download to TurboTax Online under certain conditions.

The link above is to Transfer the prior year 2022 desktop return into the Online version.  Yes if you want to start completely over in the Online version you can transfer from 2022 from your computer.  Then fill out Online, at least the parts you want to import.  Then switch back to your Desktop program.  You will have to enter everything else again.  And ignore your current desktop return.
