No, that is not ok. Tax forms from 2021 and 2022 have to be entered on tax returns for those years, not on the 2023 tax return. You will probably receive a letter from the IRS questioning the tax return that you filed.
You will have to amend the 2023 tax return and Only enter tax forms from 2023 on the 2023 return.
If the return is rejected you can make the necessary changes and e-file again.
If the return is accepted you will have to amend your original tax return. An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 16 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.
See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-change-correct-return-a...
To complete and file a prior year (2022 thru 2020) tax return using TurboTax you would need to purchase, download and install on a personal computer one of the desktop editions for each tax year required from this website - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/
A prior year tax return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed using TurboTax.
No. That is not okay. A tax return has to be prepared using the forms for the specific tax year in which the income was received. If you used a 2023 form for 2021 or 2022 income, then you just sent in 2023 returns that are all wrong. The software and the forms are specific to the tax laws in effect for the specific tax year. Tax laws for 2021, 2022 and 2023 are not the same.
How did you use 2023 forms for 2021 and 2022? What did you do? Did you put income from two past years on the same form using the online software? Did you e-file or did you print it and mail it? Please explain so we can help.
The correct way to file 2021 and 2022 returns----which is TWO separate returns--- is to use the software and forms for those two tax years on a full PC or Mac and mail the returns to the IRS.
You cannot change the tax year. The current online program is for 2023 only. Only a 2023 return can be prepared online and only a 2023 return can be e-filed.
Online preparation and e-filing for 2020, 2021, and 2022 is permanently closed.
To file a return for a prior tax year
If you need to prepare a return for 2020, 2021, or 2022 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)

You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.
Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
Note: The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac. It cannot be used on a mobile device.
If you are getting a refund, there is not a penalty for filing past the deadline. If you owe taxes, the interest/penalties will be calculated by the IRS based on how much you owe and when they receive your return and payment. The IRS will bill you for this; it will not be calculated by TurboTax.
