I selected I would mail my Federal return so I could print it. How can I "unfile" so I can make changes and efile my return.

I wanted to print my return so I could see a form I was not familiar with. I didn't know it would lock my return from changes if I selected to mail it in. It's now saying I need to "amend" my return when I have not actually filed it. Called customer service several times and they just put me on hold indefinitely.
