I understood the reply to my initial question, but did not receive a response for my follow-up questions to Catrina1. They were:
1. If I uninstall TurboTax on my PC, will I lose all the data which I already entered?
2. Would I be able to reinstall TurboTax from my Account at TurboTax, since I only have a downloaded version.
3. Would the fix of uninstall and reinstall affect any of the returns I already filed?
4. The initial error occurred after I started to launch TurboTax and selected the option to update TurboTax. Could this have caused the duplicate version of TurboTax?
Fortunately, I did not have to try the suggested fix ... since TurboTax was able to launch after I shut everything down, and rebooted my PC. I have no idea why this worked, but it did.
I was able to update Windows OS to the latest version and updated Windows Defender and restart and this fixed the error.
