I purchased TurboTax delux and now realized I need premier (for stock transactions). Is it possible to upgrade?

Yes, you will be prompted to upgrade when you indicate that you need to enter the 1099-B.

Yes.  At any point in the preparation process, at the bottom right hand side of the Turbo Tax window, there is a link to upgrade.  Click that and follow the steps...... Happy accounting!!!

You could switch to the Downloaded program instead and save $20  ... use the Deluxe if you need a state return and Basic if you do not.

I purchased turbo tax deluxe for $40. I realize now that I need turbo tax premier for $70.  When I upgrade will I just have to pay the difference of $30?

If you mean the downloaded program ... then yes you only pay the difference ... the screen will tell you that HOWEVER the Deluxe can complete ALL the tax forms and although upgrading is "Suggested" it is NOT REQUIRED ... try it first and ONLY upgrade if you feel the need for a bit more assistance.

I have downloaded Deluxe on a Mac and told it I do not want to upgrade to Premier. But for a 1031 or form 8824 I now need Premier. How can I upgrade after telling the software I did not want to upgrade?

The upgrade request was only a recommendation, it is not a requirement.

Every TurboTax desktop edition has all the same forms, schedules and worksheets.  So the Deluxe edition can be used for what you want to enter.  The Premier edition upgrade would only give you more help and guidance.

To upgrade the desktop edition you are using click on Upgrade TurboTax shown at the bottom right of the program screen.
