I planned to file single, but it made more sense to file jointly with my husband but I paid the fees already. I didn’t completely submit. Will I be charged what I owed?

I already paid the $78 for federal and state fees to file, I’m getting a state return but I owe federal. My husband and I decided to file jointly before I submitted it completely because we get a higher refund. Will what I owe in federal taxes still be taken out of my account? Again, I didn’t hit the final submit button, but I did pay the TurboTax fees already. I’m not worried about not receiving the fees back, but I want to make sure they don’t go ahead and take out what I owe for federal taxes since we decided last minute to file jointly.

No if you didn't submit it then it wasn't filed.  You will know for sure when you file the Joint return.  If you had filed by yourself then Joint will reject.  And you can't file Single if you are married.  Did you mean Married filing Separately?  Yes Joint is the best way to file.  Just abandon and leave your account.  Don't use it anymore.  Did you pay for the Joint return yet?  You could file the Joint from your paid account.  But you would have to enter all your husband's info to it.

If you did not complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section and in Step 3, for e-filing your tax return you did Not click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now", then your tax return has not been e-filed.
