Turbo Tax will never know if you paid the tax due. Once you submit your return and Turbo Tax transmits it then it is out of Turbo Tax hands. The IRS doesn't report back or tell Turbo Tax if you paid or if they sent your refund. You return will always just show the amount due or refund on the actual return you filed. Even if you got a transcript or copy directly from the IRS it would still show the original tax due or refund. You would need to check with the IRS or your state to confirm payments. Or check your bank account, etc. You didn't actually pay your taxes through TurboTax, you simply entered the method by which you WANTED to pay your tax. Only the fed or state actually initiates the payment or accepts your check, so there is never any way for the program to know if the payments were actually initiated and made. The tax return for the year continues to reflect the amount owed because that's the way it was when you filed.
you don't correct it. TT has no way of knowing that the payment was made so the balance due will not change. if you ever need to amend the return you must manually enter the payment.
