Are you sure they were not Estimated tax payments (form 1040-ES)? If you entered bank information to do a direct debit, and your return has been accepted, then your payment went through.
Funds are usually withdrawn on the payment date you specify in TurboTax, assuming your e-filed return has already been accepted (received) by the IRS. If that date falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the funds are typically withdrawn the next business day.
If you file right before (or on) the busy April 18, 2022 deadline, the IRS may not be able to debit your payment until after the deadline due to high e-filing volume. Additionally, it can take your bank another few days to post the debit to your account.
Don't worry. As long as you filed your return (or extension) on or before April 18, 2022, and you selected April 18, 2022 (or earlier) as your payment date, you won't get penalized for late payment.
If you still don't see the debit in your bank account 7–10 days after your return has been accepted, call IRS e-file Payment Services at 1-888-353-4537 or contact your state tax agency.

in turbo tax, it gave multiple options. One was direct withdrawal. Another one was "request payment plan or request extension. I chose direct withdrawal and entered bank info and pay date (which was set for yesterday). when I finished and e-filed, I printed a copy of the return and it came with payment vouchers to send in monthly payments with. If I hadn't printed the return I would have never seen these. If it takes 4 business days to show on my bank account, then I won't know until the 18th if it was set correctly. And no way that I can see the set payment method in turbotax.(that I can see)
Please see the below TurboTax help article for information on why estimated vouchers were included with your return.
Why did 1040-ES estimated tax vouchers print out? Do I need them?
You can confirm your direct debit information by downloading/printing a copy of your tax return. Once you've done that, you can find this information on your TurboTax Electronic Filing Instructions page, Federal Information Worksheet Part V, and the State Information Worksheet, Part VII.
