I'm trying to file using the free version and it's saying I need to upgrade to deluxe because I have a 1099-DIV with capital gains.

I had the same last year and was able to file for free. Did something change this year?

Yes. You can no longer enter capital gains in the free version, even if it's just from a 1099-DIV.
