Yes, you can delete the Adoptive Child Worksheet, since you don't need this in your return.
This is how to do that in TurboTax Online:
If you are using the Desktop version (disc or download):
That is the problem, the Adoptive Child Worksheet does not appear in the list of forms I can delete.
I am able to open the Tax Tools from the bottom left. I can click on Tools, then I click on Delete form and I see the list of forms I can delete. However, the Adoptive Child Worksheet is NOT listed so I am not able to delete it.
Thanks,
It would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2022" file that is experiencing this issue.
You can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions:
Go to the black panel on the left side of your program and select Tax Tools.
We will then be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return and provide you with a resolution.
Double check the information within the actual filing steps. Also, try to search for "adoptive child". Deleting the form isn't actual the fix with this issue.
I've gone through all the filing steps multiple times. If I go right to the "Child and Other Dependent Tax Credit" section, I'm asking a single, multiple-choice question with three possible answers, "Did I get a notice from the IRS saying that form 8862 is required...", "We don't want to claim the Additional Child Tax Credit this year.", or "None of these apply to us". I chose none of these apply to us and click "Continue" for which I receive a message saying the credits are already included in my return.
But I'm still being flagged during the review and it will not let me proceed.
My token number is: 1071965
Thank you,
For some reason the form is being triggered, but you information is entered correctly. You can get the form to show on the list to delete though.
During the Federal Review of your return, complete the prompts to review the entries for the missing name on Form 8839 Qualified Adoptive Child Worksheet. Enter a placeholder for Child's first name and Child's last name which can be simply "x" and "y". Once your Federal review is complete then follow the steps to delete the form listed by @JulieS and you should be able to proceed.
I logged back in today and whatever was causing the forms to be required is not gone. My review completes without prompting me to fill out the extra adoption forms.
Thank you all for the help.
AWESOME!!
