I have reached the maximum count of 5 electronic e-filing. Can I purchase another version of turbo tax to e-file my current return?

No.   Five federal e-files is an IRS limit.   Buying another download will not allow you to e-file more returns.  Sure the desktop software you already have, prepare the additional return and file it by mail.

No.  Purchasing another TurboTax desktop edition and installing it on the same computer will not give you more e-files.  The number of e-files for a federal tax return when using personal tax preparation software is set by the IRS to 5.  After the 5 e-files have been used any further tax return have to be printed and mailed.

Was able to solve the problem. Purchased another copy of TurboTax and input new software code. Transferred return to new software code and was able to e-file. My family learned our lesson for next year. Thanks so much.

Are both versions on the same computer? Do I have to transfer previous returns to a separate computer. I guee TT is using the activation code to track. No?

Yes, you can download another copy of TurboTax and have five activations.  You can uninstall the version you have, or save it to a removable drive, and then install a second version.

You can leave all the .tax2024 files on your computer.  They'll open in the second product as well.

Here's how to install a second copy of TurboTax:

1. Go to InstallTurboTax.com.
2. Select your product.
3. Select your operating system.
4. Locate and select your Download file to start the installation process.
5. Accept the TurboTax License Agreement.

Your product should automatically install after accepting the license agreement.
