If you completed the amendment process in the program and you did NOT get a 1040X in the PDF then you did not do it correctly. Wait until the IRS fully processes the original return and then complete the amendment process again. At this late date you will have to print, ink sign and mail in the amendment which will take at least 6 months to process ... possibly much longer.
I had to add my kids ITIN number, its reflecting in finally generated form, however TurboTax is still generating 1040 thinking that I have not mailed it yet, since its not aware that I had mailed and got partial refund as well from IRS.
So the real question is how will TurboTax return status will change from "Ready to mail" to accepted, so If I amend later it will generate 1040X not 1040.
'ready to mail' is the final status for a return you chose to mail.
Look in the "List of Forms" to see if 1040-X has been generated.
Not having used Online to amend, I can't tell you the exact sequence to print it.
I don't think you can amend 2020 tax return with Online once the 2020 "file with extension" date has gone by.
Its fine if turbo tax is not able to e-file, I will still mail it, but its not generating 1040X for amendment.
@jayraj-miniyar-g If you filed your original return by mail the status is never going to change from "Ready to Mail" in your account. The software program does not know that you put your return in an envelope and took it to a mailbox. The account will never update from that. That does NOT mean that you cannot amend and create a 1040X. You cannot e-file the 1040X though because e-filing is closed. Your 1040X will have to be mailed.
You have to start with the original return so be sure to save a copy of the original before you amend. You need to download the .tax2020 file from online to amend on your computer using the Desktop amend program.
