I have a ".tax2018" file. How do I open it?

If you can't get the side menus to open up to access the prior year..... You need to start entering some basic Personal Info in 2022 for the side menu to open up. Just continue a little ways into 2022. I had to go though about 12 screens.

If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online. So you need to make and keep your own backups.

I have a copy of 2018 Turbotax Software, but it was loaded via a disc, not via a download.  This was on an older Mac.  There was a point where I was forced to get a new Mac due to operating system and support for use with Turbotax.  

I saved my return as a Turbotax file, but did not print a pdf, or cannot locate the file.  How do I download Turbotax 2018 so I can print or get details from this return?

All I want to do is print the file, I do not need to amend anything.

Do you still have the CD?  Did you try to install it on the new Mac?  But before you can open the .tax2018 you have to update the program and download any state programs you used.  BUT Turbo Tax only has the updates and state downloads for the last 3 years.  So that probably wont work.

You could try the TaxPrinter service to convert a .tax file to pdf at

They might be expensive and it is probably not safe to email tax returns back and forth.  They are not related to Turbo Tax.
