Thanks for your quick reply. I only have one W-2. I entered the medicare tax withheld box 6 correctly as 2202.19. I do not Actually, TurboTax filled it in automatically and I reviewed it. I do not have an Additional Medicare Tax (Form 8959) nor do I require one. It just pulled that out of the blue when I got to the File stage. I've already wasted 2 hours, ugh! And if I don't click the upgrade for $79 button, I can't actually file. It's trying to force me to pay and I have a very simple return that meets all the criteria. How do I get past that page to actually file when it gives an incorrect prompt like that?
I also went in and tried to delete form 8959 using the tools in turbotax and it still is trying to make me upgrade in order to file. please advise.
Based on your Medicare tax, your Medicare wages are $151,862. If you are filing married-separate, you would be subject to the additional Medicare tax on income at that level. Otherwise, I suggest you delete you W-2 entry and see if the Form 8959 disappears, then re-enter it.
To view the forms in your program:
1. Choose the Tax Tools option on your left menu bar while working on your return
2. Choose Tools
3. Choose the Delete a form option under Other Helpful links
