I got an extension for filing. It says my federal tax is in progress. Sense i got an extension and have not files my taxes Does that mean my federal tax due got extended?

I seen that after i pay turbo tax i can pay my federal tax. But do i still have to pay my federal even though i never filed. I am super confused and no one seems to be able to answer if my federal due got extended sense i filed for an extension to file my taxes.

Taxes owed cannot be extended, only the filing of the tax return can be extended for 6 months.

Any taxes owed on the federal 2018 tax return has to be paid on or before April 15, 2019 to avoid a failure to pay penalty.

well how do i pay that or set up a payment plan because it wont let me pay it until i pay turbo taxes fee to file.

If you do set up an installment plan then when you e-file the federal tax return choose the option to pay by check with a payment voucher and e-file your tax return.  Then do not mail a check.

Yes, you have to file the tax return on or before April 15 so you will avoid the failure to file penalty

yes but i got locked out for 24 hours and obviously if not paid today i get penalized so any way to do it on turbo tax without filing my taxes before hand.

If you cannot access the IRS payment website for Direct Pay (not an installment), then just select to pay the federal taxes owed with a check and the payment voucher, Form 1040-V.  Mail the payment with the voucher today in one envelope and the tax return in another envelope.
