It depends on what is causing the error. I recommend after checking the information below, signing out of TurboTax. Close the browser window. Wait a minute. Open a new, incognito Chrome browser on a device that meets system requirements. Sign in to TurboTax and proceed with the filing.
If your state requires the driver's license to file, there may be an issue with then number of characters depending on your state.
Some states, such as Alabama and Illinois, a driver's license is required.
Click the links for guidance for Illinois driver's license related errors and Illinois signature requirement errors. Illinois does allow an IL-PIN instead of the driver's license which would allow taxpayers to electronically file. IL-PIN can be looked up on their website: IL-PIN Lookup.
For Colorado, only use numbers, but do not enter any special characters such as - or * or spaces. Be sure there are no extra spaces at the beginning or end.
For Texas, there is a date format advised. If any blanks or extra numbers are entered, an error message is generated. Highlight the cell and click delete several times before trying to enter again to completely clear the space of any extra blank spaces or extra numbers.
I am having the same issue. I called Support today and they were unable to assist. Their advice was to provide the data. This is not acceptable. I would like to be able to file my return without this information that is not required by the IRS.
Our issue (with State of Illinois taxes) was that I mis-entered my wife's Driver's License number the first time. When I fixed it, TurboTax only took me to the primary & secondary taxpayer information page. It got rejected a second time. That was when I noticed that on the Verification page, there was an edit button and the incorrect Driver's license number was still listed there.
system won't accept our drivers license info, we don't have ant other state ID, married filing jointly
Can you please try the steps provided below to see if that resolves your issue:
You can also try a different web browser. If this does not work, please respond back here and let us know.
