I downloaded 2016 Turbo Tax Deluxe. But I can't download my .tax file for 2016. The return status is: started. Can i download my files and submit them through the mail?

I began my tax return last year and did everything but file. I purchsed 2016 Deluxe because i thought I'd be able to access that information

Did you hit the link to "Download .tax file" ?

That's the file you need (unless it's locked, but we can tell you how to deal with that if locked)

Every time i click on it i get a message saying I need to pay turbo tax and follow the "Prior Year Return" instructions. I downloaded the 2016 TurboTax Deluxe to my Mac and paid for it. But I'm still unable to download the file.

OK...got it..

The main issue now is that the Online software doesn't know that you bought the desktop version....thus the files in that account are not unlocked....

.....when that happens, you have to call Customer Support to have them confirm your Download purchase, and to unlock your Online tax file..
