It depends.
What are you filing?
It sounds like you didn't file a tax return but are trying to sign up on the Non-Filers portal.
Please see the following link for help on whether you should be using the Non-Filers portal or not.
Scenarios for using the Non-Filers Portal
Will someone PLEASE help?
I used the "non-filers" tool. I was NOT SUPPOSE to.
I get SSDI and SSI.
NO dependants.
I have a payee.
I haven't received anything.
Did I hurt myself by filling out that form?
Will it delay my stimulus or stop me from getting it?
Please...i can't sleep or eat over this.
Help???
If SSDI and SSI are your only forms of income, you have no taxable income and don't need to file a return, so using the non-filer portal was the correct thing to do.
It may delay your payment but it won't stop you from getting it. Check on the status of your Economic Impact Payment. @Joheat55
Thank you.
Because of my mistake, I've learned all about these stimulus payments and have been able to help others with my new-found knowledge.
Lol. I feel I know more than most at the moment! Lol!
I knew better than to use non-filers. I got impatient and worried.
Now I'm more concerned that if it stopped this first payment, it will stop future ones.
I have spoke with a couple tax accountants who say as you do.
I get SSDI and SSI and have a payee, so there are other factors.
Again, thank you.
