When you print the forms for mailing, make two copies.
Keep one copy for your records.
I did print two copies. We filed one and I gave the second to my mother-in-law who died earlier this year. I am trying to help the executor file a tax return for the part of this year when my mother-in-law was still alive. I don't have the second copy, so I am looking online to refresh my memory as to what was claimed on the 2020 return.
This time SAVE the PDF file don't just print a copy.
Please follow the instructions below for a copy of your tax return after filing.
I did save it, as I went back to update the filing information at least a couple of times. I did everything in the same manner as I did for 2018 and 2019, and I can find the data for those years. I suspect the problem is related to the 2020 filing deadline being passed and the 2021 version of TurboTax Free Online not being available yet.
Yes ... the blackout period ... so if the PDF is not currently available try again in December. And when you download the PDF SAVE IT to your computer ... don't just print it.
If you need it faster you could use the amendment option to download the program and use it to open the .taxfile you can also download ... just ignore the amendment process.
