I come to California 1st time in September 2024. So, I didn't stay in USA for less than 120 days. But my employer had deducted the tax. How much will I get tax refund?

Will I get full refund if I visited USA first time and stayed in California less than 120 days in 2024 years ?

@iamgulamali

we cannot see your return and without further clarification we cannot fully respond. We do not know your income, amounts withheld,  if you were a part year resident, etc.

You sound like you were a part year resident of California from 9/1 to 12/31 and will have to file a return to see if you will owe further or get a refund.

You may want to do a little more research here on residency and tax rates.

I am NOT an expert and you should confirm with a tax expert.

@iamgulamali

Are you a USA citizen or a non-citizen?   If non-citizen, what country is your citizenship?

What is your status in the USA; what type of visa?

What date did you first come to USA, and are you still here?

Are you married?

The reason I ask is that TurboTax can only prepare returns for USA citizens and "resident aliens for tax purposes."   If you are classified as a "non-resident alien for tax purposes", you would need to use Form 1040NR, which TurboTax does not prepare, but we can tell you a TurboTax affiliate that can.

Please answer all the questions I asked above.  I'm not an expert on international filing, but I've asked @pk  to assist here when next in the forum (thanks, pk).
