I cannot import 1099 info from TD Ameritrade. I keep getting invalid signon though I am using the account number and document id directly from the printed document

I posted this MONTHS ago when I was trying to file my taxes. Never received an answer-just finger pointing between Intuit and TD Ameritrade! So I did them manually this time because the import never worked. I do not plan to go through that again so I plan to use a different tax product next year.

I talked with a TurboTax customer service specialist. I shared my screen and she acknowledged that I could not import. She said that she would log the issue. I confirmed with Ameritrade that the document number was correct  and that the document number does not need to have alpha characters. I had mentioned to Ameritrade that my current ID number only had numeric characters but for the TurboTax website, the example of a document ID number included both Alpha and numeric characters.

I forgot to mention that I am using the online version of self-employed for the $120.

I am responding to my own question to help others.  For me, it turned out to be that I was using an old account number when trying to import from TD Ameritrade.  TD Ameritrade bought Scottrade and I was originally a ScottTrade customer.  So, I was trying to use my old Scottrade account to do the import.  Once I called in and got my current TDAmeritrade account number the import worked straight away.

I am having the exact same issue. I called TDAmeritrade and they indicated my information is correct and it should work.

I kept getting the import document error with TD Ameritrade document.  Mine is Alpha/Numeric,

it is a CASE SENSITIVE input.  Mine was ALL CAPS, and when I tried the Document ID that way it worked fine multiple times.

WHY won't they let you PASTE it in the field, that would alleviate a TON of issues with TYPOS and case.

Good Luck!!

If your financial institution is a TurboTax 1099 Import Partner, you'll likely be able to import your 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-OID, 1099-R, 1099-NEC, and 1099-MISC (without entries in boxes 8 or 10) by January 31, 2023. And you'll be able to import your 1099-B and 1099-MISC (with entries in boxes 8 or 10) by February 15, 2023. If your brokerage issues a consolidated tax statement with several types of 1099s, which is common, you might not be able to import any of your 1099s until February 15, 2023.

I am having the exact same problem.  Ameritrade says it a TurboTax issue and TurboTax says its a  TD Ameritrade issue.  Did you find a solution other than entering all the transactions  manually?

There is nothing wrong with TD .

Turbotax is not even trying to connect to TD.

It is still give you the instant bogus message regarding 11 characters.

Document ID exceeded 11 characters.

Which is not true.

My document ID is exactly 11 characters.

It is supposed to work.  Supposed is the key word. In my case it DOES NOT WORK.  This has happened to me twice before.  Import worked the last two years OK, so I don't remember how I finally got it to work in the older cases.  Good luck to us all.
