I cannot access my last years return. I had to make a new account this year as I couldn't get into my old one that I used for the last two years. What should I do

In order to access your Prior Year Return you will need to log in to TurboTax using the same credentials under which you filed that return.

If you do not remember the User-Name/Password combination for these accounts I recommend you contact TurboTax Product Support. There, a representative will be able to look up your account and assist you in determining your logon credentials and even send a password Reset if necessary. Instructions for this are at the bottom of this answer.

We also offer a number of ways to assist you in recovering access to your account. 

  1. Go to our account recovery page.
  2. Enter either your:
    • Phone number (recommended)
    • Email Address
    • UserID
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

You will either be sent a code to help you recover your account or be given a list (through email or on screen) of possible accounts associated to your information. We will list the recommended account for you at the top of that list.

If you are still unable to recover your account after trying these steps, please select the link that says Try Something Else. You will be guided to enter additional information to help identify the right account and several questions to verify your identity.

Once you are signed into your account, we recommend you add or update your phone number. This will increase your account security and make future account recovery attempts easier.

If you're using TurboTax Online:
1.Sign in to your TurboTax account if you're not already signed in.
2.Click Contact in the upper-right corner of your screen.
3. Click "Contact Us"
4. Enter a brief description of your problem and follow the prompts to "Request a Callback"

If you're using the TurboTax CD/Download software or can't sign into your TurboTax account, click the link below to contact us. Ask your question, click Continue, and follow our onscreen instructions.
