You have not asked a question. You purchased software for "09?" Do you mean 2009? What is your question about that? Or was that a typo----do you mean you purchased the software for 2019? What are you trying to do?
Ugh. Most of my question was deleted -- and that after I went to some trouble trying to communicate it within the allotted characters!
I bought TurboTax 2009 back in 2010 and may still have the disk somewhere but can't find it right now. I registered it at the time but likely using a now-defunct e-mail address. The computer I installed it on is no longer working. I still have the .tax2009 file I created with that software and need to access it again. I do not have a PDF from that year. Is there any other way to read a .tax2009 file without the software?
(I have the same situation with respect to TurboTax 2010 too.)
The distribution media can be found at this link in my (academic) library:
Note the folder is publicly accessible for "viewing" and "downloading"
Best to download and place in a dedicated folder/directory. No guarantees that it works on Win/10 and note that the updates may be an issue. If there is a problem, let me know and will scout out the updates.
TurboTax 2009 Original Distribution
@JoeyB @ErickaY - Yell at me if this should not publicly accessible and will remove.
and @Raph
Thank you. I tried to download and execute the installer file but nothing happened. It's possible that indeed my system (running Win 11) is incompatible.
Try right-clicking on the setup module and select "Run as Administrator"
May result in the install
Ah. Now it explicitly tells me that my OS is incompatible. :(
Well, that is a likely cause.
How critical is it for you to get that printout produced?
Reply to @Scruffy curmudgeon - preferably in a message and not a post here
If you have a .tax or .tax20xx file you need that year's Desktop program installed to open it.
Turbo Tax doesn't have programs older than 3 years. You might be able to find one on Ebay or Amazon or somewhere but you wouldn't be able to update it or download the state program.
You could try the TaxPrinter service (not connected with Turbo Tax) to convert a .tax file to pdf at
OR get a copy from the IRS -
IF YOU NEED A COPY OF THE RETURN YOU CAN SEND THE .TAX2009 FILE TO TAXPRINTER.COM WE DO NOT VOUCH FOR THEM
THERE'S NO SENSE IN TRYING TO REINSTALL 2009. TURBOTAX NO LONGER OFFERS UPDATES SO IF YOU WERE TO INSTALL IT ON A COMPATIBLE COMPUTER AND OPEN THE FILE YOU MAY END UP WITH A RETURN THAT DIFFERS FROM WHAT WAS FILED.
