I am getting an error message when trying to efile says Turbotax not ready to efile Feb 4th 2022

I had the same issue and I work in sc , so I went back into the return and sent the federal and sc. I read online e file should be ready Feb 24th so I will check back then. Since I already paid the 20.

I also got an email that my federal return had been accepted. Normally I like to file them altogether but when I got the email yesterday that the forms were ready it was not specified that Nc wasn’t ready to accept e-file. I really feel that Intuit dropped the ball on this and should let people know

The error message says Intuit Electronic System is having difficulty recognizing the data in your return. Tax year 2021 transmissions are not available Turbo Tax is not ready to process tax year 2021 for this return. When I hit review it comes up fine and says I have all the updates. My state return is North Carolina, I have paid and all files are up to date when I select check for updates.

This is a known issue and is currently being worked on. We do not currently have a ETA, please feel free to check back in a few days.

The North Carolina Individual Income Tax Return Form D-400 is not yet available for e-filing.  It is estimated to be available on 02/24/2022

Go to this TurboTax website for North Carolina state forms availability - https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_nc_online_individual.html

If you want to e-file your federal tax return now then change how you file the NC state return.  This assumes that all of the forms and schedules included in your federal tax return are available for e-filing.

If using the TurboTax online editions click on File on the left side of the online program screen.  On Step 3 of the File section click on Start or Revisit.  Select the button File by Mail.  Then change the filing status of the state return.

After the federal return is e-filed and accepted by the IRS you can e-file the state return when it is available for e-filing.  Just use the same procedure and change the state return back to e-filing.

I have not attempted to file federal  separate from state. If this is not addressed soon I will file via USPS.

I received an email on Friday from Intuit telling me forms they needed for my return from North Carolina were now ready - Form 400 and Form D-400.  Delighted with that news, I logged in and updated my return.  Clicked file and printed  my hardcopy.  Then, sadly I get the message "Turbotax is not ready to process Tax Year 2021 for this return"........ frustrating.

Why is this happening?

It is taking longer for one form or another to show up in TurboTax for various reasons. TurboTax's objective is to provide you with the most accurate information possible. As part of this process, they communicate often with the IRS and States tax divisions.

To find out when your forms will be ready for e-file, please visit the link below and click on the option of TurboTax you are using.

It will take you to the State Forms Availability for TurboTax. Click on "View availability" next to your state.  Once you have clicked your state, look under e-file and you will see the date.

North Carolina forms for online filing will be available to e-file on 02/24/2022

@WJD50  Do you have a large number of imported stock or cryptocurrency transactions on your return?  If so, refer to the following Help Article for assistance:  How do I file my return when I see the Transmission Trouble screen?

If the above does not pertain to you, it's possible that you have Federal or State forms included in your return that are not yet ready for e-filing.  Refer to the Help Articles below to check when forms will be available:
