Assuming that you were not a household employee who receives a W-2, then you income is from self-employment and you are required to report the SE income on a federal tax return if the amount earned is $400 or more.  You will also have to pay self-employment taxes on the Net SE income you report.  The SE taxes are 15.3% of your net and include both the employer and employee portions of Social Security and Medicate taxes.
