I purchased the Deluxe download from Amazon but while helping my mom with her taxes discovered I needed the Premier version for form 1099-LTC. I'm not seeing a way to do this without purchasing the full product. Is it still possible to upgrade without having to pay full price to purchase Premier?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Look carefully at the tool bar at the top of the software screen. There is a button you can click to upgrade to a higher version. Then you only pay the price difference between the version you are already using and the higher version.
When you are ready to file, if it asks if you want to pay that fee from your federal refund. DO NOT DO THAT. If you choose to pay the upgrade fee from your federal refund it will add an extra $40 "refund processing fee" to the cost. Pay with a credit card or debit card before you e-file.

Ahhh, you're right! I checked the menu options several times and couldn't find it. It was actually hidden.
Thanks for your help!
I've already finished Income under my Deluxe. If I upgrade now to Premier, will I have to re-enter all the income again or will the upgrade just adjust when I upgrade?
All I need it to report a direct rollover on Form 5498, but I don't see that deluxe allows me to do that and I know I can write in the word ROLLOVER, but since I file electronically, not sure that I can do that.
You do not enter a rollover from Form 5498. You enter the rollover from Form 1099-R. Did you enter the retirement distribution in TurboTax (Form 1099-R)? @Pete56
When you enter the 1099-R, TurboTax will put the word 'rollover' on Form 1040 automatically.
All versions of TurboTax handle 1099-Rs
Stay in Deluxe. You don't need to upgrade. All the Desktop programs have the same forms. You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions.
Just enter the 1099R. It will ask what you did with it. What code is in box 7? A G is for direct transfer.
Pick I moved it to another retirement account even if you put it back into the same account.
Then choose - I did a combination of rolling over, converting or cashing out the money
It will automatically put Rollover by line 4b.
