Hi
I just started filing tax return using TurboTax from last year. First I created a TurboTax account and entered some of our basic information, Then I decide I need "Home and Business" version, So I bought a TurboTax "Home and Business" software on amazon and filed my 2021 tax return on TurboTax software, not through my online account. The return was accept and I got my refund. But my online account still think I have not filed the tax and keep email me to file tax return. Is there anyway I can link the files together? I prefer to use software and save everything on computer, but I do want TurboTax remember my information then I don't need enter again. But I could not find the way to link the TurboTax software data and online data. Is there a way to do that? Thanks!

Are you going to use the Online web version for 2022? You can transfer from the 2021 return on your computer. Or do you just want to store 2021 in your online account? You don't need to have your Desktop 2021 return in your online account to transfer into 2022 (either into the Desktop or Online version).
You can Transfer the prior year from the Desktop program into the current Online versions. You need to have the file ending in .tax2021 on your computer. So be sure you know where it is. But if you already started an online return you will have to clear it out and start over or set up a new online account. How to clear and start over
How to transfer into the Online version, expand the 3rd blue link if you used the CD/download last year........

And How to switch from Desktop to Online
If you used the Desktop program before you may not like the Online version. It has less features and no Forms Mode. All the Online versions do not have the same forms so you may need to upgrade to a higher version. You can only do 1 return. Your return is only saved online so be sure to save both the .tax2022 data file and the pdf file to your computer when you are done. In case you need to amend in the future or if you need a copy to get a loan or something. You might not be able to access your online return when you need a copy.
@VolvoGirl Thanks for the quick reply!
I plan to use the software (Desktop version) to file for 2022. I like Desktop version a lot better. But not sure if I can transfer my data from 2021 (I do saved on my computer) to Desktop version version 2022 since I have not get the new software yet and last year is the first year I used TurboTax.
Thanks a lot for your helpful links and explanation! I really appreciate it!
It's very easy and pretty automatic to transfer from2021 Desktop. Just start a new return and it will ask for your 2021 file to transfer. You need to have the file ending in .tax2021 on your computer. It should be in your documents then in a Turbo Tax folder. Or know where it is. When you get 2022 you'll see. If you have problems then post back.
