The question about whether a person can be claimed as a dependent is in MY INFO.   However---remember that the rule for the possible dependent is that if they CAN be claimed they are supposed to say on their own return that someone else can claim them as a dependent---it is not a game where they get to pick the answer and outcome  that they like the best.   As the parent, you can choose not to claim them but if you CAN claim them, their answer still should be that they can be claimed.
