Schedule A is for itemized deduction.  Charitable contributions is a part of those deductions.  As Vanessa A stated above, you can claim charitable donations now without itemizing your deductions.

 

Go to the Charitable Donations section under Deductions & Credits to enter the $300 cash contribution,

 

 In 2021, this amount stays at $300 for most filers but increases to $600 for married filing joint tax returns. Itemize deductions.

There is not a minimal amount of charitable donations that you need to itemize your return.  You just need your total itemized expenses (charitable donations, medical expenses, property taxes, mortgage interest) to be greater than your standard donation.

 

This year, you can take the Standard Deduction along with a cash donation deduction of up to $300 for single or $600 for married filing jointly. In this situation you do not have to itemize.
