I installed TT on a second computer I own to be able to transmit returns I prepared for family members. When I went to e-file, on the second computer, it stated that I had used all of my e-files when I've only used a total of 5 on the first computer. What is the issue?

It is not 5 free federal e-files per computer, it is a total of 5 e-files for the program that was purchased. Any returns over the 5 have to be printed and mailed.
Five federal e-files is an IRS limit. Downloading to another computer does not give you more e-files. If you have more than five federal returns to file, they have to be filed by mail.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
an interesting question with no complete answer. some say it's based on the e-mail address but one thread said he used a different e-mail a/cs on each return since get was preparing for friends, but the 5 limit was still enforced. it's not by IP address since your computers would have different ones.
