Do you have any income?  Are you Single?  If you live with someone the whole year and made less than $4,200 they can probably claim you.  Here are the rules for claiming a dependent.  Do you qualify as a dependent?

Why are you asking?  Did your return reject for duplicate ssn?

Why do you ask?  Was your e-file rejected because someone claimed you as a dependent?  If you cannot/should not be claimed as someone else's dependent then print sign and mail your own tax return.  The IRS will  process your return and sort it out.

Or....do you fit the criteria to be claimed?  (if you had less than $4200 of income not counting Social Security you could fit the criteria to be someone else's qualifying relative)....

WHO CAN I CLAIM AS A DEPENDENT?

You can claim a child, relative, friend, fiance (etc.) as a dependent on your 2019 taxes as long as they meet the following requirements:

Qualifying child

• They are related to you.

• They cannot be claimed as a dependent by someone else.

• They are a U.S. citizen, resident alien, national, or a Canadian or   Mexican resident.

• They are not filing a joint return with their spouse.

• They are under the age of 19 (or 24 for full-time students).

    • No age limit for permanently and totally disabled children

They live with you for more than half the year (exceptions apply).

Qualifying relative

• They don't have to be related to you (despite the name).

• They cannot be claimed as a dependent by someone else.

• They are a U.S. citizen, resident alien, national, or a Canadian or Mexican resident.

• They are not filing a joint return with their spouse.

They lived with you the entire year.

• They made less than $4200  (not counting Social Security)

• You provided more than half of their financial support. More info

When you add someone as a dependent, we'll ask a series of questions to make sure you can claim them.

Someone could claim you as a dependent if you meet all of the following requirements.

  • You are their son, grandson, son-in-law, brother, nephew, or certain other specific relationships, or you lived with them all year.
  • Your gross income for the year was less than $4,200.
  • They provided more than half of your support for the year.

(If you are permanently and totally disabled there are other ways that you could be claimed as a dependent.)

It's also possible that someone filed a tax return claiming you as a dependent, even though they are not legally entitled to claim you. In that case, you will have to file your tax return by mail. Eventually the IRS will straighten it out. You might get a notice from the IRS asking for information to help them determine whether the other person could legitimately claim you.

The fact that you have children has no bearing on whether you can be claimed as a dependent.
