How do I report casualty losses in Turbotax? The instructions say to search for "casualty loss", but the software doesn't recognize this search.

Can I report casualty losses?

Casualty losses are not reported on a federal tax return unless they occurred in a federally declared disaster area.  The casualty losses may be deductible on a state tax return.

To enter a Casualty or Theft loss using Form 4684 -

Click on Federal Taxes
Click on Deductions and Credits
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Scroll down to Other Deductions and Credits
On Casualties and Thefts, click on the start or update button

Or enter casualty loss in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to casualty loss
