How do I remove a state from a .tax2022 file so I can open on another computer?

I'm trying to help my mother with her TurboTax 2022 file.  She erroneously entered a state even though she doesn't need to file a state return.  I use a different state.  My copy of TurboTax desktop won't open her .tax2022 file without downloading the state she selected.  We tried to follow these instructions to remove the state from her return but the "remove state return" option is greyed out.

So how do we get her .tax2022 file so I can load it on my computer without downloading that state?

You can't.  You need to call in and ask for the state download.

see if this works. if her return was started on a different computer than the one you are using go back to her computer and change her state of residence in the tax info to TX  (not the mailing address on the 1040) because it does not have an income tax. then try deleting the state return.    then transfer the file to your computer.

it might even work if it's on your computer and you change her state of residence to TX. then delete the state return.
