How do I pay with a credit card?

I am trying to pay my taxes with a credit card. It tells me " The credit card option is not available due to your filing choices.". But I did pay with a credit card a lot of times before. I owe money and I have not selected pay with refund.

You can pay with a credit card through one of the IRS payment sites.

What you will need to do in the program is select "I will mail a check" as your form of payment, then File your return.
Then visit http://www.irs.gov/Payments and select "Pay by Card".
From there you will be given the option to choose one of the IRS approved payment sites.

Great answer thank you.
What happened is I had some documents that couldn't be e-filed so therefore I couldn't pay online. I went and had a certified check made up and mailed the taxes and check before the cut off date for postage. Good to go.

Yes ... if you have to mail in the return you cannot use the direct pay thru the program since it has no way to send the payment info to the taxing authority thus you have to make other payment arrangements like mailing in a payment or pay online directly at the fed/state websites.
