You cannot e-file the 2019 return. It has to be printed, signed and mailed. E-filing has been permanently closed for 2019 returns since October 2020. You do not need to enter a date since you cannot e-file it.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
Sorry for the lack of clarity. 2019 taxes were done in TT 2019 desktop version (parents didn't transmit the return so I'm filing late on their behalf). Called TT and they said efiling is closed across the board, so yes, am printing documents now to mail in. Thanks for the reminder about including 1099s, etc. (they're retired, so no W-2s).
