If you accidentally enter estimated tax payments, you can remove them by going back to that section in TurboTax.

  • With your return open, search for the term estimated tax payments.
  • Select the Jump to link.
  • Choose Review next to the type of estimated tax payment you'd like to delete.
  • Delete/clear the estimates you previously entered.

I was not able to clear the estimated tax but asked him to enter a zero amount to bypass it.

Yes, putting in zero should clear the entry.

So I followed the step and zeroed all of them out but when I go back to the main page it still says Not Started.  I open each one and make sure they all say 0.00.  I completed but have not sent the documents yet and when I review the forms it shows I am going to be getting payments vouchers for each quarter.  How do I remove this before I e-file my taxes?

You can delete the Form 1040 ES to eliminate quarterly payment vouchers for estimated taxes for 2021. You would only need to pay estimated taxes if you cannot or do not want to cover your taxes through withholding.

In TurboTax online,

  1. Click "Tax Tools" in the left hand menu
  2. Click "Tools"
  3. Click " Delete a Form"
  4. Find the 1040 ES
  5. "Delete"
  6. "Confirm Deletion"

Be sure to delete the "Estimated Tax Worksheet" and the "Estimated Tax Option" as well.

Ultimately you can e-file your return with these forms.  They are only printed for you. They do not change your e-filed tax returns.

So on my review of my documents this means nothing and I will not be required to pay these?  I have my taxes deducted from my pay check each week so I just want to make sure I am not going to be liable for quarterly payments also.

Also I never received either of my stimulus checks.  It shows I am eligable for both of them but my refund only shows the tax refund not he stimulus check amount.  Is that correct?

No. If you never received any stimulus payments, the amount should be added to your return, assuming you qualify.

Generally, if you were a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident alien in 2020, were not a dependent of another taxpayer and have a Social Security number that is valid for employment, you are eligible for the Recovery Rebate Credit.  Your credit amount will be reduced if your adjusted gross income (AGI) is more than:

  • $150,000 if married and filing a joint return or filing as a qualifying widow or widower
  • $112,500 if filing as head of household or
  • $75,000 for eligible individuals filing as a single or as married filing separately.

Check your stimulus entries in TurboTax. Did you enter $0 for the first and second payment amounts?

  1. Sign into your account and continue from where you left off
  2. Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then on Federal Review on the top of the screen
  3. On the next page titled Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount, click on Continue
  4. Follow the interview
  5. TurboTax will determine whether you are entitled to any additional stimulus based on the amounts you entered for the first and second stimulus payments. Make sure you enter the correct amounts.

Estimated Tax

If you have a job and are claiming the correct filing status (single, married or head of household) and are claiming the correct number of dependents, then you should not have to make estimated tax payments.

Taxpayers should make estimated payments if they expect to owe more than $1,000 in tax after subtracting withholdings and credits, or if they expect to pay less than 90% of the next year's tax through withholding and credits, or 100% of the tax shown on the this year's tax return, whichever is smaller.

Refer to Penalty for Underpayment of Estimated Tax

Please clarify your question.

  1. What section are you referring to?
  2. What were you trying to do when you make an entry you do not want?

Provide as many details as possible and one of our tax experts will help.
