Why are you trying to prepare a tax return? If you had no taxable income, you have nothing to gain by filing. There are no refundable credits for 2022 if you did not earn income from working. It seems that you do not need to file unless there is some part of the story that is still missing from your post.
Who has to file?

I'm only filing because I was advised to do so anyway just to be safe. I also thought the IRS still needed the file in their records regardless. Am I incorrect?
I also received a little bit of interest from my bank, so I figured I had to file for that. It was less than the taxable amount, though.
Unless you had income from working or from unemployment, then you probably do not need to file a return. Filing just to report interest income would not be required unless the interest exceeded the filing requirement based on your filing status.
You also do not need to file a return just so the IRS has it in their records. If you are not required to file, that's OK. The IRS will also not have any income reported under your Social Security number in their records, so they would not be contacting you to ask why you did not file a return.
