Not sure what your looking at that gave you message of 10 digits for an ITIN.
An ITIN issued to you by the IRS has the same number as digits as a Social Security number - 9 digits in the format xxx-xx-xxxx
The ITIN is entered with your personal information in My Info on the left side of the online program screen. It is entered in the Social Security number box.
??? An Identity Protection PIN (IPPIN) is 6 digits .
But that has nothing to do with a SSN or ITIN.
An IPPIN is entered on the "Other Tax Situations" page
i.e....Don't attempt to put an IPPIN in as your SSN
