Do you want to apply some or all of your 2024 refund to 2025? Have you filed 2024 yet? Before filing you can preview the 1040 or print the whole return

To apply part or all of your Federal refund to next year
Federal Taxes Tab or Personal (H&B version)
Other Tax Situations
Additional Tax Payments
Apply Refund to Next Year - Click the Start or Update button
To apply a state refund I think it will be on one of the last screens before you file state.
I have not received the answer I need. I filed using Turbo cd in past years rather online. I also need to see the prelim tax return to change the form to allow tax to be paid forward. I receive the response that I can't get to may Turbotax returns because I haven't filed but I have done to so in the past and I can't get to the preview because of the response that I haven't filed.
I'm sorry my reply didn't help. Are you using the Online version this year or the Desktop program? For the Online version, before filing you can preview the 1040 or print the whole return. You have to pay any fees first before you can see all the forms, etc.

When you use online TurboTax you do not have direct access to the forms. Forms mode is a feature of the desktop download software, but is not available with online. All of your entries have to be made via the interview screens. You were provided with a suggestion that would let you choose to apply your 2024 refund toward your 2025 tax ---re-read the reply you received from @VolvoGirl .
With online TT you can preview your Form 1040 and Schedules 1, 2 or 3, but you cannot make direct entries to them.
PREVIEW 1040
I followed the directions as I understand them from Volvogirl' response but I am stymied when I launch the your tax returns & documents button. When I click to launch I get "You haven't filed your taxes with Turbo Tax yet. Check back once you've filed your first tax return. ......."
I inferred from your response xmasbaby0 that I could go to the review and be offered the suggestion to let your refund be applied to your 2025 tax I don't t see that suggestion. I only see 'Where would you like your refund deposited' and then I'm given some investment accounts or bank accounts that I could choose. I am not able to get to any option to have the refund applied to 2025 tax. Is there another step I need to take to get to that?
@XXthCentMan Since you are using the TurboTax online editions, you need to click on Federal on the left side of the online program screen.
Then click on Other Tax Situations
Under Additional Tax Payments
On Apply Refund to Next Year, click on the start or revisit button
The amount applied to next years taxes will be shown on Form 1040 Line 36
You can view your Form 1040 plus Schedules 1, 2 and 3 at any time using the online editions. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.
When I look for the word Federal on the left side of my start page, I don't find it there. There is a gap between Documents and Referral Rewards which looks like is supposed to have some elements showing but it is empty. Is that where the link Federal should be that I'd click on?
@XXthCentMan You must be signed onto your online account. You must also be accessing your 2024 online tax return.
To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state.
This will take you back to the 2024 online tax return.
I do but it just brings me back to where I left off when I sent in my estimated taxes for 2024.
The issue that may be tangling this up is that I got an updated report from a brokerage firm after I had filed the estimated taxes and it straightened out a reporting error the broker had made which I had used to file the estimated taxes. That correction sharply reduced my actual tax liability after I had filed and made the extension payment for what I feared was the large amount. Now I want to have the excess that is present on my account applied to tax in 2025 but I am unable to get to the locations U point out that should be there. Can only a turbo tax pro get into the account to see such locations that instead of getting the refund I'm now due, that I want the 2025 tax to be paid?
@XXthCentMan If you have not completed the 2024 tax return for either e-filing or for mailing this is the screen you should see when you sign onto your account -
If you click on any of the boxes shown, this will cause the links on the left side of the online program screen to become visible -
Yes, I have gotten that far, but what occurs is that it brings up choices on how to receive the refund. No choice to pay 2025 tax. Would a pro be able to get that screen?
one requirement to avoid penalties and still pay in the minimum so you owe without penalties is to have withholding and timely estimated tax payments equal 90% of that year's tax. Further, with a timely filed prior year return you can use the overpayment to apply to next year's estimate. the major issue is knowing what your current year tax obligation will be, so you don't fall below that 90%
If you have a screen for how to receive your tax refund then you are in the File section of the program. The File link you should see on the left side of the online program screen, as noted in my second screenshot. There will also be a link for Federal which if you click on that link will cause the Deductions & Credits link and the Other Tax Situations link to become available.
And no using a tax pro will not get to the screen you need any better than you doing it yourself. This should be easily done
