Don’t forget your state. And you will have to print and mail your returns. So be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them. You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places. Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.
Then when you file for 2024 you need to enter 0 for the 2023 AGI since you are filing 2023 late.
You can only file this year's tax return (2024) using TurboTax Online.
To file your tax returns for prior years, please follow the instructions in this TurboTax Help article.
I have Windows Home and Business destop version that I bought last year. And still can't e-file state or federal. Software is looping, insists on e-filing. And on submit says, last days was in Oct. 24. Advises paper filing. Then insists that I must e-file then after going through all the verifications and credit card info, says you should mail your returns. Round and round it goes.
Are you trying to file for 2023 or 2024? Can you confirm you have the software for the corresponding year?
@Krushed Despite what the software is saying, you cannot e-file a 2023 return. It can only be filed by mail. E-filing for 2023 has been permanently closed since the end of October 2024. Choose to file by mail, and then print, sign and date your return in ink, and mail it in.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
