How can I double check my itemized deductions total? TT gives me a much lower total than actual amounts.

The only way to see your Schedule A is to pay and create a .pdf file.  Your going to be looking for your Schedule A and any associated worksheets to see how the numbers were arrived at.

Go to Tax Tools>>Print Center>>Print, save, or preview this year's return to start the payment process, if you haven't already.
