How do I change my marital status from my auto status?

You change your filing status in the My Info section of the program.  Click on My Info on the left side of the online program screen.

Note - If you filed as Married on a 2024 return using the TurboTax online editions and in 2025 you are no longer married, then you will need to create a new account with a new User ID to file as Single

When you have your return open you should go to the 'My Info'. You should be the first person listed on the tax return. If not, you should start a new account for yourself.

1. Select your name if you are the primary (first taxpayer listed). 
2. Select the dropdown arrow and click on 'Revisit'.
3. Continue until you reach the screen 'About your household'
4. Select 'Plan to file separately or as Head of Household (special rules apply)'
