When you have your return open you should go to the 'My Info'. You should be the first person listed on the tax return. If not, you should start a new account for yourself.
- Select your name if you are the primary (first taxpayer listed).
- Select the dropdown arrow and click on 'Revisit'.
- Continue until you reach the screen 'About your household'
- Select 'Plan to file separately or as Head of Household (special rules apply)'
