As long as you haven't submitted payment, deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund, or registered, you can erase your return in TurboTax Online.

1. Sign in and select a topic to continue your return.
2. On the next screen, from the left-side menu, select Tax Tools, and then Clear & Start Over (select the menu icon in the upper-left corner if you don't see this menu).
3. Answer Yes in the pop-up to confirm.

I agree with you 100%. That’s why I took my business elsewhere when I found out it’s NOT free to file with them. They are misleading and just all around liars. In fact, I saw on Facebook a law firm that is sueing turbo tax for misleading and charging customers when they state their services are free. Just sad.

Once a TurboTax account is created, it cannot be deleted. However, you can simply abandon it. If you'd like to clear any data that you may have entered into the program, you can use the "Clear and Start Over".  To delete all your tax information from TurboTax follow these steps. 

• If you haven't already done so, sign in to your TurboTax account and select the Take me to my return button. 

• On the welcome back screen, in the left-side menu, select Tax Tools, and then Clear & Start Over (select the menu icon in the upper-left corner if you don't see this menu).  

• Answer Yes in the pop-up to confirm.
