Household Employee?

We had a babysitter come to our house for half of the year in 2019.  We agreed not to take federal taxes out each week but never discussed medicare and social security taxes (because we were unaware of that).  She brought two of her own kids with her and we provided all meals for them and our kids.  Since she brought her own kids, is she considered a household employee or self-employed? Or something else?

Household Employee?

Generally, if you paid someone to work in your household during the year, they would be considered a household employee.

If she is considered self-employed, she would control how the work is performed, and she would equipment and any supplies needed.

Here is a TurboTax article that addresses these scenarios.  Please refer to the additional links at the bottom of the page for more details on filing Schedule H: Who is Considered a Household Employee?
