Home Mortgage Interest Worksheet

I am almost done with my taxes for 2021.  But in the review, I get an error message about Home Mortgage Interest Worksheet Proceeds Must be Entered.  I have no idea what to do here and there is no explanation at all.  Has anyone come across this problem?  I've already paid for the return (Turbo Tax takes your money before you are finished) or I would just give up and go to a tax preparer.  Can someone help??

Home Mortgage Interest Worksheet

Switch to the FORMS mode and look down the list on the left ... is there any RED !  marks ?   If to that is where the errors are that need to be corrected ... click on that form to look at it in the window ... look for any reddish boxes on the form ... make entries to correct the missing info and/or  delete the form/worksheet that is hanging you up.

Home Mortgage Interest Worksheet

i noticed that when i went through interview mode with the desktop version I entered the 1098 info. box 2 is the beginning of the year balance.  to properly calculate the deductible amount of interest it needs to know the end of the year balance. I was never asked that question. in forms mode go to the home interest worksheet

on item F below line 13 enter the eoy balance

see if this works. i have not filed yet.

worse the omission passes the final review even if the mortgage balance is over $750K or $1,000K whichever is applicable to your mortgage
