Home & Business - how to start an estate return

I just upgraded to home & business so I could do my father's estate return and turbo tax is not asking if I want to do a 1041. How do I get it to do that instead of an individual return. It only asks if I'm doing a return or 1099s.

You will need to purchase TurboTax Business to do a Form 1041. Turbotax Business is a download for Windows product. You can purchase it here if you like. 

TurboTax Home and Business, as well as Deluxe, Premier and so on, handle only the Form 1040 and associated forms. TurboTax Business handles the 1120-S, 1065 and 1041.

If you do not require TurboTax Home and Business, you will need to call customer support to have them reverse your payment. You should do this before you file your personal return. It is generally best to contact customer support through your software or here.

I just spent a bit of time on the phone with a TurboTax specialist who assured me that the Home and Business download (for Mac) would work for 1041, but it's starting out only asking very individual-tax questions. How can I get the right program? Money back? or was the specialist correct and I need some guidance, as the OP was asking? I must work on a Mac -- the only options for TT Business presented to me are for Widows (both download and CD). Please help!!

The business program only works with Windows. I am so sorry.

Please use the following link for a customer support number for a refund since you do not have access to a Windows computer.

The program you purchased will handle the K-1 from the estate but not the estate preparation.
