Sure you can use the paystub, if you want your tax return rejected by the IRS and then have to get the W-2 to re-file and delay your tax refund by several weeks or months.

See this TurboTax support FAQ on filing with a paystub - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899643-can-i-use-my-last-paystub-if-i-don-t-have-my-w-2-yet

The IRS will not be accepting any type of tax return until January 23, 2017 for tax year 2016.

The IRS will be holding all tax returns that have a tax refund that includes EIC and.or the Additional Child Tax Credit until February 15, 2017.
