Hello, I moved to Japan 6 months ago and need to file taxes in the US.

Can I file for taxes in the US for both me and my wife through Turbo Tax while living in Japan? Is there anything special that I need to file for the US-Japan Tax Treaty?

Hello, I moved to Japan 6 months ago and need to file taxes in the US.

As a US citizen and/or permanent resident (green card) you are required to report all of your worldwide income on a federal tax return.  You can use TurboTax to report Foreign Earned Income and Foreign Taxes Paid.  If you are going to use the products offered on the TurboTax website you can only pay for those products with a US credit card that has a US billing address.

If you want to use the TurboTax online editions then you will need to use the Deluxe edition or higher to report your foreign income and taxes paid.  If you choose the desktop editions, then any of the desktop editions can be used.

Are you a US citizen or US permanent resident working and/or living in Japan?
