What is this letter about and why? I got my federal refund for the right amount and this is the first time I ever applied some to next year $xxx.
This letter says thank you for your inquiry. We show credit or payment of $xxx for the tax period ending Dec 31, 2024. We have no record of receiving your tax return.
They want another copy or to file a return now. This is for 2024! Should I ignore it? Did Turbo Tax not designate the amount applying to 2024? Should I call the IRS?
Oh, is it because my husband died in 2023? They sent the joint refund to my bank account ok.

is $xxx the amount you asked to be applied to 2024?
If so, IRS may be trying to confirm you have a credit for next year.
Obviously, you can't resend your 2024 tax return.
I'm going to write them. I think they can't apply it because they are probably trying to apply it to my husband's ssn who is deceased. I need to tell them to apply it to my ssn.
You'll need a lot of luck getting that straightened out !
You might have more luck going to IRS customer assistance center and talk to a person.
I just went there.
The rep I met was rather ditzy but got the job done.
